Salaries for Operations Managers based on Degree in Canada

Operations managers also earn different wages based on what type of degree they achieved. The highest paying position is attained with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Based on 443 individuals in 2008, the typical operations manager with a MBA earns $80,677 per year. With a bachelor degree, managers make an average between $65,000 and $70,000. Operations managers with only a High School Diploma earn an average salary of $57,391. Managers with a Bachelor of Commerce or a Bachelor of Arts earn between $53,000 and $54,000. With a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, operations managers earn approximately $46,000. From these statistics, a Masters degree is the best degree to achieve for an operations manager, although you can still earn a satisfactory salary with a high school diploma. Wages for Operations Managers Based on Employer Type in Canada

The average salaries of an operations manager in Canada vary depending on the employer type. The highest salaries for managers are earned at hospitals and governments. The lowest paying employers for operations are franchises and non-profit organizations. The following salaries are based on 1,004 operations managers surveyed. In hospitals, a typical manager earns $80,000 per year. Managers working for governments including federal, local, and state earn approximately $73,500 per year. Operations managers that work for companies, colleges or universities, through contract work, or other organizations earn an average salary between $60,000 and $64,000 per year. Self-employed companies and school districts pay operations managers around $56,000 to $59,000 per year. Private practice organizations and firms, foundation and trust organizations, and non-profit organizations pay between $48,000 and $51,000 per year. The lowest paying employers are franchises which pay approximately $40,000 per year. The best place for an operation manager to work is a hospital which always has many processes to be changed. Salaries for Operations Managers Based on Years Experience in Canada

Salaries for operations managers in Canada increase gradually with the years of experience that they have. The following results are based on 1,004 individuals in 2008. An operations manager with less than one year of experience will earn an average of $45,004. With 1-4 years of experience, the average salary increases to $50,128. The salary then increases to around $55,522 with 5-9 years of experience. For 10-19 years of experience the salary increases to around $64,673, and for 20 years of experience or more the average salary levels off at $73,839. The salary increases approximately 60% from when the operation manager has no experience up to when the manager has 20 years or more of experience in the field. The hourly rate for operations managers in Canada stays fairly consistent when comparing to years of experience. The following results are from 2008 based on 139 individuals. An operation manager with less than a year experience to nine years of experience makes approximately $16 to $17 per hour. With 10-19 years of experience the hourly rate increases to approximately $24, and with 20 years of experience or more it increases to $28.50. Although there aren’t many surveyed for hourly rates, based on the information received it is better for operations managers to find a job paying by salaries instead of hourly rate. Operations managers also earn bonuses each year. Based on 741 individuals surveyed, the highest average bonus received was $5,854 for 10-19 years of experience. If an individual has less than a year experience, they will make approximately $2,000 for a bonus. The average bonus for 1-4 years experience showed to be $3,075 and for 5-9 years was $4,139. For managers with 20 years of experience or more the bonus was $5,125 which appeared to be just under the managers with 10-19 years experience. The bonuses would depend on how often the individual works and how productive they are. Year of experience has an effect on the bonuses because with more years experience your operations would have more of a possibility to improve processes.
